Pathways Overview
What began in 1978 as the Women's Association for Women's Alternatives,
one of Pennsylvania's first residential programs to keep low-income,
vulnerable women together with their children, has grown to become one of
the Greater Philadelphia region's foremost providers of residential and
community-based services for women and their children. Each year
PathWaysPA serves more than 4,400 women, children and families who
reside in Philadelphia, Delaware and Chester counties through a full
complement of social services, job training and employment assistance,
outreach and residential programs.
PathWaysPA's residential programs provide shelter and
supportive services to mothers of all ages and their children who
are at risk of losing family unity due to abuse and neglect. All
families are referred from a county children and youth system.
PathWaysPA's in-home services provide vulnerable families with comprehensive services
again aimed at keeping families together. Services are provided by caring and dedicated
staff at times conducive to helping families while they meet the increasing challenges of
parenting and self-sufficiency.
PathWaysPA promotes self-sufficiency through employment , education and family
financial advocacy programs in Philadelphia and Delaware Counties. These programs
range from job-specific skills training, employment counseling and placement to family
literacy and financial education services.
